In 1995, while working at Polk County, Murray Giesbrecht wrote the first version of the Clerk Imaging and Indexing system. It was received with such acclaim that Mr. Giesbrecht was invited to speak at an imaging conference on Maui in 1995 and 1996. Other counties became very interested in the system but wanted a receipting system and more features. Yamhill County was the next county and Murray spent the next two years developing the receipting system. Lane and Clackamas followed and the system was rewritten by Helion as a state of the art application capable of running in both SqlServer and Oracle databases. The systems have been growing steadily as new counties purchased the software and new features and whole new programs were added. Marriage licensing and Web access were added as well as a new, flexible image management system called ActiveDoX. Helion continues to improve their products while maintaining the highest quality of service and commitment to their clients. Helion Software currently employs a staff of seventeen with offices in Salem and Dallas, Oregon with annual revenues of over one million dollars.
